The Decision by Asma Iftikhar The Decision is a short story to be published in our pamphlet range. The story addresses themes of alienation, loneliness and poverty and is about a young woman who goes shopping for milk but her mundane trip results in a moral dilemma. ...And then came the moment when she finally reached up to a shelf and picked up a bottle of milk – a pint of blue top milk.
She placed it gently in her basket, relieved that, finally, her basket had something in it. And then the dilemma kicked in. When she came to the toiletries section of the bargain store, she looked at the bottle of milk in her basket, then her gaze returned to the cheapest brand of sanitary towels on the shelf. Panic set in. She froze. She had no idea what she should buy. |
